Manchester/Taylor Roundabout

Project Description

  • Client:
    City of Wildwood, Missouri
  • Location:
    Wildwood, Missouri

Benham was selected to design the City of Wildwood’s first roundabout, to better provide easy turning movements to large commercial vehicles, improve safety and traffic capacity and reduce construction and maintenance costs compared to a traditional signalized intersection. Preliminary, right-of-way, and construction plans for the project include the following key design elements:

 Geometrics
 Earthwork
 Pavement Plan
 Lighting Design
 Signage
 Traffic Control Plan
 Construction Sequencing
 Surveying & Geotechnical
 Construction Cost Estimates
 Quality Assurance
 MoDOT Design Standards for Roundabouts
 St. Louis County Roadway Standards

Understanding that change is often resisted because of the unknown, Benham coordinated with the Federal Highway Administration to expedite an informational brochure and a narrated video showing the benefits and traffic patterns associated with roundabouts.  Benham delivered brochures to residents, and provided the video to the Mayor and City Council to help educate the public and resolve any objections to the new traffic design.

Awards
