Project Description
- Client:Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Inc.
- Location:Victorville, California
Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. (DPS) hired Benham to design and build its new bottling facility and warehouse in Southern California. The $130 million, 57-acre facility includes a 280,000-SF production building, a 588,000-SF warehouse facility, a 26,000-SF administration building, and several other buildings. In addition to finishing on time and under budget, the project has received LEED® Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
The new facility has the capability to bottle, warehouse and distribute 50 different brands of consumer beverages, including soft drinks, juices, ready-to-drink teas, energy drinks and other premium beverages. Five filling and packaging lines were installed initially and three additional lines are anticipated to be opened in the future.
The original construction schedule was 14 months. The building permit, however, did not come through until 6 months later. Our crew was able to overlap construction activities to overcome the delay and deliver the project on the originally scheduled completion date. Just one year after DPS purchased the property, the soft-drink company began production on its signature Hawaiian Punch® beverage.
